224 international companies invest €525 million in Vienna
Vienna continues to be a highly attractive location for international companies, according to 2025 figures from the Vienna Business Agency. Last year, 224 businesses from 49 countries established operations in the Austrian capital, bringing total investments to around €525 million. In total,1,682 jobs were created – an increase of more than 80% compared to 2024. The impact extends beyond Vienna: according to agency forecasts, these new business activities are expected to generate approximately €750 million in added value for Austria as a whole. Companies from Germany, Hungary, and Italy were particularly well represented. Leading sectors include IT, telecommunications and software, retail, and business-related services.
“These latest figures once again underline that Vienna is a location international companies can count on – and for good reason. The strong increase in newly created jobs confirms that our strategy is delivering results. These investments create high-quality employment opportunities and will generate around €20 million in annual tax revenue. Vienna combines quality of life, social stability, and innovative strength. With pioneering projects such as the Life Science Center Vienna and the Quantum Technology Center Vienna, we continue to strengthen our position as a leading international technology hub,” says Barbara Novak, Executive City Councillor of Finance, Business, Labour, International Affairs and Digital Innovation.
Technology sectors see significant growth
In 2025, a clear focus was on technology-driven industries, with a total of 60 international companies from fields such as IT, telecommunications, and software establishing operations in Vienna. One example is Bybit EU, the world’s second-largest crypto exchange. By choosing Vienna as its base, the Singapore-founded company benefits from a reliable regulatory environment that provides legal certainty while fostering innovation. The Vienna Business Agency supports companies throughout the entire relocation process – from digital location advisory services to tailored assistance from the Expat Center.
This diversity is also reflected in startups such as Willow Stories. Founded by entrepreneurs from Spain, France and Austria, the company operates a digital platform that collects and preserves the memories of deceased individuals. It highlights the supportive environment Vienna provides for unconventional and innovative business ideas – helping them develop and scale successfully.
Dominic Weiss, Managing Director of the Vienna Business Agency, said: “The Vienna Business Agency invests strategically in international sales and marketing activities to reach companies around the world more effectively – and the results speak for themselves. Businesses in Vienna benefit from a reliable business environment, a strong ecosystem, and direct access to European markets. Our international team supports companies in setting up operations or expanding their investments here. These developments generate positive effects across the entire value chain.”
