Lukas Lengauer from the Vienna Business Agency familiarised participants with the Viennese circular economy landscape - from what makes Vienna a great business destination and City strategy, to success stories and funding opportunities. Next, Anna Greil introduced us to her trailblazing Viennese circular fashion tech startup, Minimist. A live demo of the product and her take on why they chose to operate internationally from Vienna gave participants an insight into what it's like to start up and branch out from this city. Kathrina Rieger from Concular Austria then took to the stage, sharing her experiences of working for a German-based circular construction company which chose Vienna as its Autrian headquarters. For her honest opinion on what makes Vienna a supportive and unique city to do business in this industry - as well as the importance of coffee in business meetings! - skip to 35:00 minutes. To round off the webinar, Jan Riepl from the International Business department of the Vienna Business Agency outlined the support available for international companies looking to start up or relocate here. He discussed the importance of building relationships and how his team can help companies understand the business culture differences and negotiate the legalities of having a company in Vienna.
Anna Greil
Anna Greil is Co-founder & COO at Minimist, a VC-backed circular economy startup from Vienna. With its app, Minimist is driving innovation in the second-hand industry by making second-hand selling effortless. Sellers take a photo and AI writes the listing, researches the price, and puts it live across eBay, Etsy and other platforms in seconds. The team are driven by the aim of helping the people who are helping the planet and making mindful consumption the path of least resistance.
Kathrina Rieger
Since 2020, Kathrina Rieger has been head of the Austrian branch of Concular, a pioneering impact startup from Berlin creating a digital ecosystem for circular construction. Concular develops circular business models for building materials and components. As a civil engineer (Vienna University of Technology), Kathrina is an expert in circularity, the circular economy, and decarbonization in the construction sector. For over ten years, she has been working on the implementation of circular construction projects in Austria, Germany, and Hungary.
