Thanks to excellent public services, compact Vienna is easily and quickly navigated, with short distances to natural beauty. This makes it easy to achieve a superb work-life balance, with endless possibilties for recreation and leisure time on your doorstep. It offers all the attractions of a capital city without the drawbacks: low crime, comparatively low rent prices, and outstanding water quality. 

With around one in six of Vienna's residents speaking English better than German, the large international community is another draw for expats. Thanks to a relatively low cost of living (especially in comparison to cities like Copenhagen, Paris, London and Milan), the affordability of rent, food, public transportation, recreational activities and clothing is extremely attractive. What's more, the average salary in Austria is, according to OECD, ahead of countries such as Denmark, Sweden, Finland, France and Germany.

Vienna has also made a committment to sustainability and is pioneering environmental protection. The city's climate strategy succeeded in reducing per-capita CO₂ emissions by almost 40% and as such, Vienna has resolved to reach climate neutrality by 2040.
