The Biofabrique Vienna continues!

From November 2024, the Biofabrique Vienna showroom will open its doors in the DOCKS, built by ARE Austrian Real Estate. The new location offers space for the further development of the research project, functions as a showroom for material innovation, as well as a venue for workshops, co-working, events and a lot more.

The pilot project of the Vienna Business Agency and Atelier LUMA started a 100-day test phase at the Nordwestbahnhof site in early summer 2024 during the Vienna Climate Biennale. Together with the Vienna University of Technology (Institute of Architectural Design), materials for architecture and design were developed from unused local resources, such as leftovers from the Ströck bakery's baking production and excavated material from the U2/U5 construction site. The methodology of Biofabrique Vienna is based on the bioregional design approach of Atelier LUMA, a program of LUMA Arles.

The building materials developed at Biofabrique Vienna were first used by Studio dreiSt. in the design of the hospitality area of the Vienna Design Week at the DOCKS. The modular space and furniture concept of the “Biofabrique Canteen” is now being continued as part of the Biofabrique Vienna showroom.
