8th May 2026 marks the 81st anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. The Mauthausen Committee Austria (MKÖ) organises the Festival of Joy (Fest der Freude) in commemoration of the victims of the Nazi-regime and to mark the joy of liberation from the reign of terror. As every year, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra will support the Festival of Joy with a special music program, which will once again conclude with Ludwig van Beethoven's “Ode to Joy.”
The highlight will be a speech by contemporary witness Lucy Waldstein.
Admission is free!
