Discover 10 award-winning projects from the creative industries in the urban space
Ten projects from the Vienna Business Agency's Creatives for Vienna – Making Spaces competition show how Vienna's creative industries are enhancing open spaces in neighbourhoods, strengthening communities and adapting the city to social and climatic challenges. During the Klima Biennale Wien, the award-winning urban space projects will be presented for the first time at various locations in Vienna.

Tour Program
1. 18.4.26 11-12.30pm
Tour 1
This tour leads to the Nordwestbahnhof, where major urban development processes are currently being prepared. Four selected projects showcase how creative interventions can activate unused spaces and explore new forms of public use and presence.
2. 25.4.26 11.30-12 pm
Tour 2
This tour features the project Die Anhaltestelle by Anna Krumpholz, Elisabeth Ableidinger, Marlene Lübke‑Ahrens & Klara Jörg, which rethinks mobility and public space. Along tram line O, stops are activated temporarily: mobile furniture invites people to pause, take a moment, and meet others—strengthening social interaction in the public realm.
3. 25.4.26 15-16 Uhr
Tour 3
This tour takes us to two projects that reinterpret existing infrastructure and open it up to different user groups. We’ll visit the lively activity course for children and families, Bruno, by studio d*luxe, and Via Tanke by ViaTankeKollektiv, a gas station that serves as a meeting place and cultural space.
4. 9.5.26 3-4.30 pm
Tour 4
This bike tour takes you to three projects that demonstrate how Vienna’s creative industries are evolving existing structures and experimenting with new uses of urban space. friendship.is explores the hot dog stand as a socially diverse space, Kühle Sache by COAT expands an existing fountain, and “Die Stadt führt sich auf” by the Burgtheater Vienna and Social Design Studio transforms the open space around the Burgtheater into a stage for everyone.
5. 9.5.26 8-9.30 pm
Tour 5
This tour tour leads to the project Licht für Vielfalt by Dusts Institute, which uses red-light filters on street lamps to support nocturnal biodiversity and demonstrate how insect-friendly lighting can work.
