Creative Days X Biofabrique Vienna Workshop
Mapping Biofabrique Vienna: Between Habitat and Demolition
This workshop, led by architect and educator Bika Rebek, is an exercise in close observation at an industrial hall - informally called Papageienhalle - located on the former fertile floodplains of the Danube and currently activated through a showcase and workshop area on circular materials by Biofabrique Vienna. Within months, the space is slated for demolition to make way for large-scale development.
Participants will engage in a mapping exercise of the hall and Biofabrique exhibits through simple tools such as sketching, photography, sound, smell and touch recordings. A practical introduction to 3D scanning will allow participants to create virtual replicas of exhibition artifacts and architectural elements, collectively creating a digital archive to be distributed online.
Situated within broader questions of urban development, environmental protection, and cultural use, the workshop uses 3D scanning as a primary technique to explore how temporary setups and materials can be recorded, archived, and disseminated.
The workshop is aimed at anyone interested in closely observing the built environment, including architects, designers, and local citizens.
