200 Years of Johann Strauss
Vienna celebrates 200 years of the King of Waltz
Name a duo more iconic than Vienna and Johann Strauss.
This year marks 200 years since the birth of Johann Stauss II, a musical legend who composed the legendary Blue Danube Waltz.
Of course, the City of Vienna intends to celebrate this anniversary, and a year-long programme will delight classical music lovers and appreciators. The Johann Strauss exhibition runs until 23 June 2025 at the Theatermuseum, where you can learn about Strauss's life and works: from original scores to personal items, ball gowns and letters, it's a must-visit for Strauss fans. Head along to the newly-opened Johann Strauss museum, enjoy a Strauss-inspired film festival, or see a light show at Stadtpark. More information here.
